Creating Environments

In this article, you’ll learn how to create Environments in Golive, including how to create a single Environment and how to create multiple Environments at once. For an overview of Environments and related concepts, refer to the Environment section in our Glossary.

Requirements

• This documentation applies to Jira 10 and later.
  If you're using Jira 9.x, refer to Creating Environments in Jira 9.

• You must have the Create and Delete Environments permission or be a Golive Administrator.
  For details, refer to the Security & Permissions article.

Creating Environments

Single Environment

To create an Environment, follow these steps:

1. Click + Environment in the upper-right corner of Golive pages.

2. In the Create Environment page, select the Single Environment tab.

3. Choose an Application or Application Landscape. You can either:

   1. Select an existing Application or Application Landscape from the list.

   2. Create a new one by clicking Create new Application or Create new Application Landscape. The new Application will only be created after you validate the creation of your new Environment.

If you select an Application tagged as Landscape, Golive will automatically create and add Tiers to the new Environment. For more information, refer to the Environment and Application Landscapes documentation.

4. Choose a Category. You can either:

   1. Select an existing Category from the list.

   2. Create a new one by clicking Create new Category. The new Category will only be created after you validate the creation of your new Environment.

5. Enter a Name for your new Environment.

6. Choose a Deployed Version. You can either:

   1. Select an existing Deployed Version from the list.

   2. Create a new one by clicking Create new Deployed Version. The new Deployed Version will only be created after you validate the creation of your new Environment.

Tip

Click More to define additional settings such as:

• Panel Scheme

• Status

• URL

• Additional attributes defined in the Default Attributes field of your Environment Attributes settings. Refer to section “Customizing Environment Attributes” below for more information.

8. Click Create.

Multiple Environments

To create multiple Environments at once, follow these steps:

1. Click +Create Environment located in the upper right corner of Golive pages.

2. In the Create Environment page, select the Multiple Environments tab.

3. Select the desired Applications. If you need to add new Applications, refer to the Manage Applications documentation.

If you select an Application tagged as Landscape, Golive will automatically create and add Tiers to the new Environment. For more information, refer to the Environment and Application Landscapes documentation.

4. Select the Environment Categories. If you need to add new Categories, refer to the Manage Environment Categories documentation.

5. Optionally, choose the Attributes you want to define for the Environments.

6. Click Next.

7. Define the Attribute values for the attributes you selected in the previous step. You may leave a field empty if you wish to define the attribute without assigning any value.

8. Review the Environments to be created and the attributes to be defined.

9. Click Create Environments.
