Manage Environment Categories

In this article, you’ll learn how to set up Environment Categories in Golive. For a detailed explanation of this concept, refer to the Environment Category article.

Requirements

• You’ll need the Manage Categories global permission to perform operations on categories. For more details, refer to the Security & Permissions article.

Environment Categories Page

All setup is performed from the Environment Categories page, accessed through the Golive Settings menu.

To access the Environment Categories page, follow these steps:

1. In Golive, click the Golive Settings menu (represented by a gear icon and a downward arrow) at the top right corner of a Golive Page.

2. From the drop-down menu, select Environment Categories. This will open the Environment Categories list page.

Creating an Environment Category

To create a new Environment Category:

1. Go to the Environment Categories list page.

2. Click the Add Category button at the top right corner.

3. Enter a unique Name for your new category.

4. Choose the category Type.

The Type links our categories in Golive with the following corresponding categories in Jira:

• Development

• Testing

• Staging

• Production

Create as many categories as needed for your various Applications. It does not matter if all categories are not used by all your Applications.

Editing an Environment Category Name

1. Go to the Environment Categories list page.

2. Search for the Category that you want to edit.

3. Click the category name under the Name column and update it.

Editing an Environment Category Type

1. Go to the Environment Categories list page.

2. Search for the Category that you want to edit.

3. Click the category type under the Type column and update it.

Delete an Environment Category

1. Go to the Environment Categories list page.

2. Search for the Category that you want to edit.

3. Click the corresponding Delete button (represented by a trash bin icon).

Re-Order Environment Categories

The order of your Environment Categories significantly impacts the readability of your Environment lists. This order applies to all category-sorted environment lists throughout Golive.

For optimal clarity, organize your categories in a logical deployment flow, such as:

Dev → Integration → Pre-Production → Production

You can rearrange your Environment Categories using drag-and-drop functionality. Simply click, hold, and drag a Category to its desired position within the list.
