Get Started with Scheduling

This guide walks you through setting up Golive Schedulling. You'll learn how to configure Jira for scheduling, choose between Quick Setup and Manual Configuration, and customize Golive scheduling capabilities to fit your needs.

Requirements

  • Jira Administrator permission on your Jira instance.

Step 1: Configure Jira for Scheduling

Golive offers two methods for configuring Jira for scheduling:

Option 1: Quick Setup RECOMMENDED

This one-click setup creates a new Jira project pre-configured for scheduling. It automatically generates any missing issue types, custom fields, screens, and workflows as described in the manual setup instructions:

  1. In Golive, click the the gear icon at the top right corner of any Golive Page.

  2. From the drop-down menu, select Golive Settings.

  3. Under the Scheduling section, select Scheduling Configuration.

  4. On the on-boarding banner at the top of the page, click the Quick Setup button.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Tip

If the Quick Setup banner doesn't appear, disable the toggles for Booking, Change, and Blackout in the respective tabs, then save your configuration. This should trigger the appearance of the banner.

Option 2: Manual Configuration ADVANCED

Info

This option is recommended only for Jira admins and experts. For most users, we strongly recommend using the Quick Setup.

Manual configuration is useful if you are already tracking Bookings, Changes, and Blackouts in existing Jira issues and want to reuse your existing setup. Before proceeding, ensure that the relevant issue types, custom fields, and workflows are properly configured.

For detailed instructions, refer to the Manual Jira Configuration for Scheduling documentation.

Step 2: Configure Golive for Scheduling

Info

If you used Quick Setup, these settings will already be pre-configured, but you can further customize them as needed.

  • Set Up Event types: Configure event types (Booking, Change, Blackout) for precise planning.

  • Choose Jira Project Details: Select the appropriate Jira project and issue types.

  • Pick Environment Fields: Select the Environment fields relevant to your scheduling.

  • Set Up Conflict Detection and Resolution: Configure the settings to automatically detect and resolve conflicts.

For detailed instructions, refer to the Scheduling Configuration article.
